Popular cross-platform messaging app WhatsApp is bringing voice calling feature – it’s old news. But if rumors are to be believed, WhatsApp is going to integrate ‘Call via Skype’ feature. Besides, some of its upcoming features also have been leaked online.
According to a report by MaktechBlog, the last November update of WhatsApp contained a feature namely “Call via Skype”. Apart from this, there were few other features including ‘Call Hold’, ‘Call Mute’, ‘Call Back Message’, ‘Call Me in X minutes’, ‘Call Notifications’, and a different display for call logs.
The report says about a feature namely ‘Driving Mode’ that may be used to either read out messages or calls while the user is driving or work as a ‘Don’t disturb’ feature.
Few days ago, several screenshots of voice calling feature of WhatsApp had been leaked online in a website.
After Facebook acquired WhatsApp – one of the most popular cross OS smartphone messaging service – voice calling feature was announced for the first time. But it had been said that this feature was delayed till first quarter of 2015. If voice calling feature is included in WhatsApp, it will join the race against other free mobile messaging apps such as WeChat, Viber, Line, etc which already let their users to make voice calls to other users.
